For more than 70 years, we have been a leading provider of insulation, window tinting, and residential energy analysis in the Wichita metro area & south-central Kansas. We began under the name Wichita Insulation and Aluminum Company, but are now known as NorthStar Comfort Services, Inc., as we offer a wider variety of services.
We are dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, healthy and energy efficient living environment to each of our customers. By considering the ‘Home as a System,’ we pledge to assist every customer through the complex relationships among different components of the home. Our services and our advice about other services help people make the best decisions that will affect their home’s long-term performance, comfort, and operating cost.
This depends on where you are looking to insulate. Walls, attics, floors, hard to reach areas and new construction vs. existing homes and businesses are all determining factors on which product(s) we recommend. Request a free, no-commitment quote today!
ComfortWall™ is NorthStar’s exclusive wall insulation system for new construction, both residential and commercial alike. If the inside of the walls is exposed, such as during an extensive remodel, ComfortWall can be used in existing construction projects as well. The system is designed to fill cavities completely, providing a custom fit with no gaps or voids, to maximize the building’s thermal properties (R-value).
While a qualified home insulation advisor can help you identify problems with your current insulation, most homeowners can notice the need for more insulation just by making everyday observations. Here is a guide to tell you what to look for when considering if additional insulation is needed as well as other handy home maintenance tips.
Insulation’s resistance to conductive heat flow is based on its thickness and density and is measured in R-values. The greater the R-value of your insulation, the greater the insulating effectiveness. For the Wichita area, we recommend having a minimum of R-38 insulation. If you are interested in finding the recommended R-value for another area, the Home Energy Saver Energy Calculator is a great tool.
